You lost me on the first car. 1. The Stratus coupe was never cool. It was the lamer version of the Eclipse, and the Eclipse was already a hilariously bad performing car. I would know, I owned one for years. Lowered it, built it, even sprayed nitrous through it. Absolutely nothing to write home about. The LS1 Camaro I bought after was a legit performance car. 2. The 3rd gen Eclipse (along with it’s Stratus cousin) never had a turbocharged engine in America. This video has “American Sports Coupes” in the title, so we already know the market. 3. I don’t have a third point, it just feels right to have a third entry.

Most of those cars never made it out of concept stage. Out of all of them only the Z1 and the Model X were produced in great enough numbers to be counted... with the Z1 being a distant memory by now and a rather rare sight. Only the Model X remains and prevailed. Funny that this is the only car that receives quite a negative touch in this video - again, despite the fact its the only one that made it to a non-limited mass production and is still available today. Guess those doors aren´t as problematic after all as this one overly repeated clip might suggest (featuring one HIGHLY distracted driver).

I had a 69 1/2? Javelin that did 12.9 in the 1/4. I think 340 Cubic, 280 HP? 4bble carb. Automatic transmission classified as H stock automatic! Never lost in my class (not a bunch of H stock automatics around) Made it to top stock 2 times! Lost to 426 hemis both times. I can't recall how much time I I was spotted but it was lots! Both times he pulled me close to finish line. At any rate 12.9 is faster than all but 3 cars on your list. Thanks, JB

Most of the cars on this list were almost completely removed from the market by the cash for clunkers program. I got to see hundreds of perfectly useable cars destroyed. We are now seeing the full effect of this in the market and will for at least another decade.
